“They have to live within their budget,” said Anela Pa, co-director of Hoomana Thrift Shop, who was leading a group of its ohana on a annual field trip on Tuesday.
The visit included a stop at the mayor’s office, where each client received a goodie bag as well tours of the other county branches, stopping in front of the meeting room where the Planning Commission had just approved plans for the Coco Palms Resort.
“They get $2 for bus fare, and the remaining $8 has to get lunch at the Kukui Grove Center,” Pa said. “This is still part of learning.”
Kudos to Hayley Matson-Mathes and Michael (he came along to do photos) and the Hawaii Culinary Education Foundation on the guest appearance of Orly Yadao, executive pastry chef at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa, on the sugar working workshop. Isn’t Orly the chef who donates a piece to the annual Eat Dessert First event sponsored by the Zonta Club of Kauai?
