Kauai Social Workers recently gathered at a Kauai Hospice-sponsored luncheon for the celebration of National Social Workers month.
Social Workers represented medical, family, hospital, nursing home, hospice and private practice aspects of social work. There was a presentation to the group by the local Legal Aid office representatives.
The social work profession and the National Association of Social Workers have helped bring about major positive changes in American society over the past six decades, said NASW CEO Angelo McClain.
“Simply put, social workers have helped transform our society, playing major roles in many societal advances that we now take for granted,” she said.
There are 650,000 social workers in the United States who serve 10 million clients a day.
