KAPAA — Lilianna Lopez was one of the many princesses to emerge from the Princess Day fundraiser hosted by Salon J.
“We are booked solid,” said Jackie Shea of Salon J. “And the phone still kept ringing. I told them (the staff of seven) this was going to happen.”
With four hours of appointments filled, Shea estimated they would be contributing more than $1,500 to the YWCA of Kauai.
“Last year, our first year doing the Princess Day event, we donated about half this amount,” Shea said. “We’re happy people are happy. We have more people this year.”
The Princess Day package provided young ladies with treatments for hair, nails, makeup and a goodie bag.
“This is so cool,” said Cristy Labanon of Puhi, who brought her two daughters, Mehana and Mikylah, for the treatment.
“This is the girls’ first time, and when I saw the notice, I called my friend and said this was perfect for the girls,” Labanon added.
While most princesses turned their attention to contents in the goodie bag, mothers cooed over the young princesses.
“This is her big event,” said Soleil Robiteau’s mother, a regular customer at Salon J.
