Happy Camper for Feb. 2, 2015

Congratulations to Kapaa High School junior varsity coach Jordyn Danner and her JV Lady Warriors on an undefeated season following its 57-17 win over Kauai High.

Keani Tolenoa led the squad with a game-high 23 points in the win while Kaylee Braun did the honors for the JV Raiders with six points.

Coach Bobby Kamakele was at the game to support his former Kaulupono basketball players as was Coach Philip Baclayon, and mahalo to Coach Mits Yokotake (is he going to be playing at the North Shore Lions pancake breakfast?) for the offer of a poke, or laulau bowl … maybe the next time at Kilauea Elementary School, coach.

Speaking of pancakes, Steven Fujii and Sharon Lasker have tickets for the East Kauai Lions Club pancake breakfast coming up March 1 (Janice Bond said there will be some Roy Nishida pineapples from Maui, and of course, the Harvey Kinoshita miso soup). Of course, you can get the tickets from any East Kauai Lion, not just Steven or Sharon.

OK, time to get rolling to visit Chef Mark Oyama and the Kauai Community College culinary arts students to learn more about the American Culinary Federation breakfast coming up Feb. 15.
