Red Raiders beat Kapaa, 28-22

KAPAA — Kauai High School’s varsity girls basketball team defeated Kapaa, 28-22 on Tuesday at Kapaa High School.

Kauai (2-0 KIF) currently is in first place in the first round of the Kauai Interscholastic Federation season.

“Our game plan was to actually get (their) big girls in foul trouble. Not by driving to the basket, but as the game went on, we felt that our guards were faster,” said Kauai head coach Neil Fagarang. “I just told them that if there’s an open lane, then go for it. They did and everything worked well for us.”

Freshman center Taegan Keep scored 7 points for the Red Raiders. Sophomore forward Paea Tafea scored 4 for the Warriors.

Kapaa (1-1 KIF) will host Waimea (0-2 KIF) on Tuesday.
