House fire extinguished in Puhi

LIHUE — A house fire in Puhi on Thursday resulted in little damage and no injuries.

According to Kauai Fire Department, firefighters from Station 3 on Rice Street responded to a call of smoke emerging from a house on Welau Street about 11 a.m.

Firefighters reported they had the blaze under control within minutes. Damage was confined to a first floor closet area and the scene was cleared by 11:50 a.m.

American Red Cross volunteers met with residents to be sure they had shelter, food and clothing.
