Supreme Court survey on electronics during hearings
LIHUE — The state of Hawaii Supreme Court is seeking public comment on electronic devices during public court proceedings.
Proposed rule changes would, if approved, allow electronic devices to be used in public court proceedings, subject to certain limits.
Currently, state courts do not allow public photography, any recording device, or cell phones to be on during proceedings. Media must file an extended media coverage request for photography or video during any court hearing.
The comment deadline is Nov. 17.
