LIHUE — The furloughed inmate who ran from his transitional home rather than return to custody at Kauai Community Correctional Center is still at large.
Tyson Yadao, 25, is on the run after fleeing adult corrections officers Aug. 5. Yadao is an extended furlough inmate, which allows him to live and work outside of the facility with frequent check-ins at KCCC while living in a transitional home in Lihue.
The Office of the County Prosecuting Attorney filed a felony information complaint against Yadao on Tuesday. It charges the fugitive with second-degree escape for intentionally fleeing custody. Yadao will be arraigned on the charges if he is apprehended.
Yadao was sentenced to 10 years in prison for burglary and assaulting a police officer in 2010. He is 5 feet 9 inches and has brown hair and eyes, and weighs 210 pounds. The public is urged to call 911 if they see him.
