Pearl Silva

Pearl Chong Silva of Kapaa, formerly of Kealia, Kauai, Hawaii, Passed away on June 26, 2014 at the age of 87. Born on June 25, 1927 in Kealia. She was a cashier for Tony’s Mini Mart.

Preceded in death by her parents, Fook Yee & Mary Chong; husband, Antone “Tony” Silva Sr.; sisters, Jennie Akau, Gladys Tanigawa, Elsie Hoopii; brother, Herman Chong Sr.

She is survived by her children, Theresa “Momi” (Stephen) Maglente, Maui, Linda Alamani, Oregon, Pearl Lafaver, Oahu, Toni (Thomas) Young, California, Antone “Tony” (Donna) Silva Jr., Kapahi, Irene (George) Kawaguchi, California, Winona (Cliff) Dette, Oahu, Melvin (Jan) Silva, California, sister, Mary Jane Akana, Maui; brother, Albert (Joycelin) Chong, Oahu, 29 grandchildren & 44 great grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews & cousins.

Friends may visit the family on Wednesday July 9, 2014 at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church, Kapaa. Visitation at 9:00 A.M. Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Burial to follow at Saint Catherine’s Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Koloa, Kauai.

Mary Louise Doucette “Nana” of Kilauea, Kauai was set free at 86 years of age on January 1, 2014. She was born on January 17, 1927 in Dallas, Texas. Nana was a pioneer business woman with Hydrex Pest Control, based in California. She moved to Kauai to fulfill her lifelong dream of living in Hawaii, dancing hula and embracing the Hawaiian culture. An unforgettable woman who lived aloha every day.

Preceded in death by parents Emma and Francis Doucette, brother Francis Doucette, Jr, sister Marjorie Nieman and son Jesse Ashby.

She is survived by one brother, Paul (Daryl) Doucette of Pacific Palisades, California; two daughters, Marie (Daniel ) Grout of La Bate, France, and Patrice (Timothy) Asuncion of Kilauea, Kauai; five grandchildren: Jennifer (Dave) Anter, Justine (Michael) Swartz, Jesse (Ka’iulani) Palumbo, Emma Palumbo, and Catherine Grout; five great grandchildren: Jesseka Palumbo, Koapaka Palumbo, Nicholas Swartz, Olivia Swartz, and Julia Anter.

A celebration of her life will be held at Waioli Beach Park on Hanalei Bay on July 23, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. Please RSVP Patrice at 634-0332.
