Clifford Gonsalves
Clifford Andrew Gonsalves of Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii passed away at home on June 20, 2014, at the age of 76. He was born in Hanamaulu, Kauai on June 17, 1938, and retired as a truck driver with Lihue Sugar Plantation.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Mabel Gonsalves; step mother, Dorothy Gonsalves; brother, Damien Gonsalves.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Eleanor Christine Gonsalves; four daughters, Marie Gonsalves (Joseph Hoapili Jr.), Lesley (Francisco “Bully”) Rabot III, Cliflynn (Shawn) Bukoski, Lesmarlee “Crissy” Gonsalves (Jamerus Panoy); one son, Evan (Kelieann Nuesca) Gonsalves; 11 grandchildren, Tiana (Brandon Wong) Gonsalves, Tiera (Robert Lee) Gonsalves, Justin Rabot, Francisco “Cisco” Rabot IV, Sadie Gonsalves, Cyrus Grammer-Gonsalves, Caleb Gonsalves, Jacob Bukoski, Hailey Rose Gonsalves, Tori Bukoski, Tryten Rabot; 2 great-grandchildren, Briana Gonsalves-Wong, Tiabre Gonsalves-Wong; two brothers, Ralph (Veronica) Gonsalves, Thomas (Evelyn) Gonsalves; one sister, Debra Gonsalves; sister-in-law, Fannie Gonsalves; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, July 4, 2014, at Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall with visitation from 9:00 a.m. and services celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Pastor Doug Kazoub of New Hope Lihue. 49er’s or Red, black or gold attire suggested by family.

Thelma Blake
Thelma K. Blake of Koloa, Kauai, Hawaii, passed away on June 12, 2014 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 91. Born in Waimea, Kauai on November 5, 1922. She was a cook for Koloa Elementary School.
Preceded in death by: Rev. Charles Blake.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis Blake, Koloa, Alva Blake, Koloa; grandsons, Kaipo (Tricia) Blake, Kalaheo, Danny “Kawika” (Malia) Blake, Puhi, Kanan (Leena) Blake, California, Keoni Blake, Koloa; great grandchildren, Bree “Kanoe” Blake, Kalaheo, Blythe “Kahoku” Blake, Kalaheo, Kiana Blake, California, Loreale Blake, Calfornia, Makalapua Blake, Puhi, Ka`ilinemo Blake, Koloa, Dallas “Kilakila” Blake, Puhi, Numerous nieces and nephews.

Yukio “York” Higashi
Yukio “York” Higashi of Hanamaulu passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on June 19, 2014 at the age of 87. Born on February 12, 1927 he was a retired truck driver instructor for Lihue Plantation.
Preceded in death by his parents Sakichi and Kiku; brothers, Masayuki and Harry; granddaughter Halee Rivera.
He is survived by his wife, Olinda Higashi; sons, Gordon (Danice) Higashi, Alvin (Deborah) Higashi, Dean (Melanie) Higashi; Blaine Kaneholani, Kenny Meatoga; daughters, Maile (Jonah) Cummings, Yukie (Kevin) De Silva, Anolani (Kelo Rivera) Higashi; brothers, David Higashi, Richard “Kenji” (Misa) Higashi, Sisters Peggy (Leslie) Yaka and Edith Higashi; 25 grandchildren, Bryson, Shantelle, Daryl, Danielle, Jan, Joey, Cherise, Kaplan, Alyssa, Kelii, Landon, Micah, Vaughn, Kelly, Kaleomana, Jonah, Nohelani, Sunshine, Naomi, Jacob, Alton, Joshua, Moana, Dustyn, Hulali. 21 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Anahola Hawaiian Homes Beach Park. Visitation with family begins at 10 a.m. Services at 10:30 a.m. will be performed by Kahu Ipo Kahaunaele-Ferreira of Ke Akua Mana Church.
Andrew Belmonte
Andrew Yadao Belmonte of Kilauea passed away on June 1, 2014 at his home in Nice, California at the age of 60. Born on December 31, 1953 in Lihue, he was a Landscaper.
Preceded in death by his mother Esmenia Belmonte and brother Patrick Belmonte.
He is survived by his son Barrett Belmonte of Kilauea; father Isidro Belmonte Sr. of Kilauea; brothers Isidro Belmonte Jr. of Kilauea and Eric (Crystal Marie) Belmonte of Kilauea; sister Brandie (Ross) Pimental of Kapahi. Granddaughters Kyllie and Bailey Belmonte, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at St. Sylvester’s Church in Kilauea. Visitation held at 9:00 am and services to commence at 10:00 am.
Hideo Wakuta
Hideo Wakuta of Kapaa, Kauai passed away on June 25, 2014 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 86. Born on April 10, 1928 in Hala’ula, Kauai, he was a District Water Chief with the Board of Water Supply.
He was a lifelong farmer, beginning with planting, growing, and harvesting his own pineapple fields. Within the pineapple business, he worked tirelessly alongside his brother Mamo, and other family and friends. Hideo’s legacy extends far beyond his involvement with the pineapple industry and agricultural community. In his hire, valuable life-lessons of hard work and reward were learned by his children, nephews and niece, and their young friends.
Very active in the community, Hideo was a past president of Hui Alu, Inc. and a strong supporter of the Okinawan heritage in Hawaii. He and his wife, Florence, were awarded HUOA’s Uchinanchu of the Year in 2002. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Hideo will undoubtedly remember his great hospitality of heart and home, his deep and uplifting kindness, his genuine humility, his dedication to family, and his unending pride in his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends.
Hideo was preceded in death by his parents, Matsu and Mito Wakuta, and sisters, Kiyoko Miyasato and Edith (Masa) Nakasone.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Florence Nakamasu Wakuta, children, Derek (Debra) Wakuta of Kapaa, Dawn (Xavier) Ikei of Aiea, Daryl (Alison) Wakuta of Torrance, California, and Duane (Puanani) Wakuta of Kapaa; siblings, Shizue Sakihama of Kapaa, Mamoru Wakuta of Kapaa and Seichi Wakuta of Torrance, California. Also surviving are his 8 grandchildren, Desiree Wakuta-Matsuda, Kelsey and Brent Arakaki, Brandee and Carey Wakuta, Chivas, Jetsen and Duane Wakuta Jr., and 3 great-grandchildren, Grant and Emily Matsuda and Jetsen “Elua” Wakuta Jr. and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 4 pm on Thursday, July 3rd at the Wakutas’ Residence, 5962 Kaapuni Rd, Kapaa. Please see parking attendants for assistance. Services will begin at 4 pm. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted. The family requests no koden.

Anne Moncrief
Anne Hyde Rice Moncrief, of Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii, passed away on June 29, 2014 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 71. Born in Lihue, Kauai on July 16, 1942. She was a chairman of Kauai Museum and a fellow of the National Tropical Botanical Gardens, loving Mother and sister.
Preceded in death by her parents, Jack & Edith Rice Plews.
She is survived by her daughters, Emmy (Michael) Copriviza, California; Juliet (Kuma) Moncrief, Big Island; Heather (Richard) Waters, Virginia; brother, John Plews, Honolulu; 4 grandchildren Anthony, Courtney, Katie & Lauren. Numerous Aunties & Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday July 5, 2014 at the Lihue Cemetery Service at 4:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kauai Museum and the National Tropical Botanical Gardens.

Pearl Chong Silva of Kapaa, formerly of Kealia, Kauai, Hawaii, Passed away on June 26, 2014 at the age of 87. Born on June 25, 1927 in Kealia. She was a cashier for Tony’s Mini Mart.
Preceded in death by her parents, Fook Yee & Mary Chong; husband, Antone “Tony” Silva Sr.; sisters, Jennie Akau, Gladys Tanigawa, Elsie Hoopii; brother, Herman Chong Sr.

Yuichi Tanaka
Yuichi “Harold” Tanaka of Lihue passed away in Wilcox Memorial Hospital on June 24, 2014, at the age of 92. He was born in Waimea, Hawaii on April 8, 1922, and was a self-employed master plumber.
He is survived by one son, Harold (Ruth) Tanaka of Lihue; two daughters, Betty (Jerry) Kosora of Hilo, Mary Ann (Shigeo) Tsuburaya of Hilo; six grandchildren, Jodi (Claton) Mine, Drew Kosora, Leigh Ann Ueda, Kyle (Jody) Ueda, Kelsey Tanaka, Keegan Tanaka and 3 great-grandchildren.
Private services were held.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Tanaka family with arrangements.
Dennis Ueno
Dennis Tadao Ueno of Kailua, Oahu passed away on May 29, 2014 at the age of 63. Born in Hanapepe he was a retired taxi driver.
Preceded in death by his parents Shigetoshi and Mitsuko Ikeda Ueno.
He is survived by his brothers, Clayton (Cheryl) Ueno and Alan (Miriam) Ueno; sister, Eunice (Michael) Tanaka, numerous nieces and nephews.
