Hundreds of families and keiki between 5 and 18 years old took advantage of the nice weather and the garden atmosphere of Smith’s Tropical Paradise to learn about having a safe and healthy summer.
Hosted by the Wilcox Memorial Hospital, a Hawaii Pacific Health organization, people participated in the various health and wellness workshops, met icons like Dr. Health E. Hound, and Tucker, the facility canine from the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children.
A special team from the Kapiolani Medical Center measured and distributed free bicycle helmets and Hoola Lahui offered samples of kale with an “I tried it!” button.
The activity extended beyond the luau hale where American Medical Response, the Kauai Fire Department and the Kauai Police Department had their vehicles on display for more hands-on interaction.
A healthy snack and prize giveaway of a bicycle and helmet capped the day.
