Mary Jane Moore of Princeville, Kauai, passed away on May 10, 2014 at the age of 89. Born on June 14, 1924 in Ohio she was a teacher.
Preceded in death by her husband Mel Moore.
She is survived by her children; Richard Moore, Ireland; Sally (Ralph Rubio) Moore, Anini; and David (Carolyn) Moore, Anini. 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, June 14th, at the Church of the Pacific, Princeville from 10 a.m. Family suggested aloha attire and in lieu of flowers – donations can be made to the Church of the Pacific.
Dr. Wayne N. Gokan
Dr. Wayne N. Gokan of Lawai passed away on May 18, 2014 at age 72. Born on November 19, 1941 in Lihue, Kauai, he was a retired Optometrist.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lillian T. Gokan, parents, Takeo and Kiyoko Gokan, and brother, Charlie Gokan.
He is survived by his companion, Glenda Akina of Lihue; son, Galen (Cherish) Gokan of Wailua; daughter, Joni (Paul) Ito of Lawai; brothers, Melvin Gokan of Honolulu and Eddie Gokan of Wailua; sister, Karen Gokan of Kapaa and sister-in-law, Hiroko Gokan of Lihue, five grandchildren, Mele Yama, Haley and Mandy Gokan, and Sydney and Caleb Ito. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Private services will be held at a later date. Family requests no koden.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Matsuto Mukai of Hanapepe passed away on May 15, 2014 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 97. He was born on January 7, 1917 in Waimea, Kauai.
Preceded in death by his parents Wai & Zoroku Mukai, brothers, Eugene Jiro (Helen) Mukai, Shigeto (May) Mukai, and infant Kazuji Mukai, and sisters Matsuyo (Hachiro) Hashimoto and infant Teruko.
He is survived by his wife Miyoko Mukai, sons, Edward (Joyce) Mukai of Gardena, CA and Clyde Mukai of Hanapepe, daughters, Paulette (Mickey) Parson of Brownsville, TX, Laura Mukai of Honolulu, Maisie (Paul) Lamoureux of Buena Park, CA, Debra (James) Seret of Sterling, VA, and Sandra (Gordon) Villegas of Mililani Town, HI, brother James Hiroji (Florence) Mukai of California, fourteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, May 26, 2014 at the Hanapepe Hongwanji Mission; service will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Kevin Curtis Kehm of Princeville passed away at home on May 14, 2014, at the age of 62. He was born in Omaha Nebraska on October 31, 1951, and was a retired Custom Motorcycle Mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Teal Kehm; two sons, Cole Kehm of Santa Cruz, California, Donavon Kehm of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Krystal (Juan) Restrepo of Tucson, Arizona, Tasia (Marcio) Faria of San Jose, California; mother, Bette Kehm of Phoenix, Arizona; 4 grandchildren; brother, Eric Kehm of Arizona; In-laws, Joseph and Elizabeth Nava of Princeville.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Kilauea with services at 4:00 p.m.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Kehm family with arrangements.
Darrin Keala Jeffries of Los Angeles, California formerly of Anahola, Kauai passed away on May 19, 2013 at the age of 33 in Los Angeles, California. Born on December 14, 1979 he was a Mechanic and a Kapaa High School Graduate Class of 98-99.
Preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Henry Kai Chong Ching and Uncle Cyrus Ching.
He is survived by his mother, Sharlene (Ching) Jeffries; sister Jennifer (Jeffries) Tejeda; Fiance, Vanessa Banderas and the DeFries Ohana.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2014 1 p.m. at the Anahola Beach Park. Burial at sea with scattering of ashes to follow. Aloha attire is suggested.
James Cabral of Puhi passed away at home on May 12, 2014, at the age of 88. He was born in Kalaheo, Kauai on November 3, 1925, Veteran of the United States Army, and retired as supervisor from County of Kauai Parks and Recreations Division.
Preceded in death by parents Marion and Mary Cabral, 8 brothers, and 1 sister.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Cabral; 3 sons, Jimmy (Marilyn) Cabral, Grady (Annie) Cabral, Keith (Yolanda) Cabral; 2 daughters, Cindy (Mervin) Soto, Monalisa (Dabney) Miguel; 11 grandchildren, Kahelelani (Jason) Visitacion, Shane (Atchara) Soto, Tiffany (Jay) Cabral, Kimo Cabral, Nicole (Don) Okami, Wendice Soto, Whitney (Chico) Miguel, Courtney (Taylor) Thompson, Makana Cabral, Ethan Miguel, Hunter Cabral; 8 great-grandchildren, Tynoa Shigemoto, Lochlen Visitacion, Kawaileleleialoha Cabral, Kahekili Cabral, Zayden Okami, Ava Soto, Mason Okami, Zoe Soto, numerous nieces, nephew, and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Holy Cross Church with visitation from 8:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Family graciously declines flowers.
