Fast Company picked up its second win in as many weeks Thursday during the second race of the Nawiliwili Yacht Club Rum Series.
About 20 people took advantage of the winds in the 8- to 12-knot range out of the northeast to watch the 10-boat fleet battle for supremacy in the 4.71-mile course.
Fast Company lost the elapsed time race to Bonojolea II who crossed first in 1 hour, 7 minutes and 14 seconds, nearly two minutes ahead of Fast Company who crossed the line on an elapsed sail of 1:09:46, followed by Ozone slipping across at 1:10:19 for third place.
But Fast Company corrected to 1:09:52 PHRF to capture top honors in the class followed by Ozone (1:10:26 PHRF) and Bonjolea II filling in the No. 3 spot on a 1:11:39 PHRF.
Trinity, an F-28 Trimaran, slipped across fourth with a 1:11:22 elapsed sail and corrected to 1:02:09 Club for top honors in that class.
Second place in Club went to Weatherly (1:15:39 elapsed, 1:15:26 PHRF) who corrected to 1:07:35, just two seconds ahead of Speedy (1:15:39 elapsed, 1:15:46 PHRF, 1:07:37 Club).
The Rum Series continues Thursday with the third leg of the seven-race series.
The public is invited to view the competition with the NYC Race Committee at the jetty wall area of Nawiliwili Harbor when first flags fly at 5 p.m.
