Kauai celebrates ‘Month of the Young Child’

In commemoration of April being the month for young children, the Kauai Project Sequenced Transition to Education into the Public Schools hosted the 12th annual Parent/Child Fair at the Kukui Grove Center.

Project STEPS is a national outreach program designed to help public school educators assist students facing various academic challenges, states a mayor’s proclamation announcing April as Month of the Young Child.

During the month, Hawaii’s STEPS team joins organizations and groups, including the state Department of Education, in observing the month to raise public awareness of the needs of young children and their families as well as the importance of quality early childhood education programs through children’s games, and other hands-on activities.
