According to police, a commercial water tanker was eastbound on Kaumualii Highway, just west of the Maluhia Road junction, when one of its tires blew out about 3:15 p.m. This caused the truck to veer off the roadway and crash into a guardrail along the westbound shoulder.
The 53-year-old truck driver did not report any injuries. He had no passengers in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Police diverted westbound traffic onto Maluhia Road for 40 minutes while the truck and debris could be removed from the scene. The highway was reopened about 4 p.m.
