LIHUE — Ron Kosen, coach for the Rush BU12, said the team had the best first half of the season Sunday.
Facing the No. 2 team in the Under 12 Boys division, the Rush BU12 was seeking its first win against Team Onipaa ’03 Boys BU11 during the Kauai Soccer Association fall league games at the North Vidinha fields.
“This is the best I’ve seen the kids play,” Kosen said at the break. “We haven’t allowed any scores in the first half. This is the best we’ve done all season.”
Working behind the defensive goal tending of Conner Kosen, the coach’s grandson, and midfielder William Andres, the Rush BU12 got some support from its players on the field.
The Rush BU12’s good fortune flowed into the second half, the game ending in a 0-0 tie to give the Rush BU12 a 0-5-1 record and a point in the standings.
Team Onipaa ’03 Boys BU11 finishes at 3-2-1 and 10 points for second place in the standings.
Team Onipaa ’02 Boys BU12 continues to reign in the division, finishing with a 0-0 deadlock against Keahi BU12 for a 6-0-1 record and 19 points.
Keahi BU12 ends with a 2-3-2 record and eight points for third place in the standings, a point ahead of the NS Nation FC BU12 who sits at 2-3-1 and seven points.
Under 12 Girls
Talia Washington netted two goals and Kayla Kawamura added a goal to lead Futsal Kauai GU12 to a 3-0 win over the Lihue Cougars GU11.
The win keeps the Futsal Kauai GU12 in the lead of its division with a 5-0-1 record and 16 points with the Cougars sitting with a 3-3-1 record and 10 points.
Under 8 Boys
Jacob Grossmann fired two goals to lead Keahi BU8 to a 2-0 win over the Lihue Arsenal BU8 resulting in both teams tied with 3-3-1 records and 10 points.
Under 10 Girls
Hiilani Bukoski netted a hat trick, or three goals scored, to lead the division leading Lihue Cougars GU10 to an 8-0 win over the Kalaheo Fire GU10.
Helping the victory, Kaleonahe Bukoski, Kaya Camara, Samana Kelley, Seijia Makanani and Sianni Sakai each added goals to keep the Cougars in the lead at 6-0-1 and 19 points, while the Kalaheo Fire GU10 drop to 1-4-1 and four points, a tie with Futsal Kauai B GU10.
Mia Kaneakua-Inoshita fired off four goals and Tea Rosa added a net to lead the Futsal Kauai B GU10 to its 5-2 win over the Lihue Arsenal White GU10 who got its goals from Tavehi Dubocage and Sailor Keahiolalo.
The Futsal Kauai A GU10 team got four goals from Kaia Davis Caberto and a hat trick from Hailey Overmyer with Taylor Inoshita adding a net in its 8-1 win over Makani GU10, who got its goal from Kirra Carvalho.
Under 10 Boys
Kalei Kanehe and Tupelo Lethrop scored for the division leading NS Nation FC BU10, but Makani BU10 answered with goals from Akoni Arruda and Tobey Troost to finish in a 2-2 deadlock.
Austin Renaud, Jayden Celebrado, Keian Celebrado, and Jordan Andres scored goals to lead the Lihue Arsenal BU9 to a 4-0 shutout over the Rush BU10.
Under 14 Girls
April Barnes scored four goals with Cambria Ort and Aiyanna Walker each adding scores to lead the division leading Rush GU14 to a 6-1 win over the Holoholona Strikers GU14, who got its goal from Bernadette Lindsey.
In a battle for second place in the division, Kaisha Davis Caberto, Cheyann Fujii and Shayna Shigematsu scored goals to lead Pohaku GU14 to a 3-2 edge over Team Onipaa GU14, who got goals from Seidree Kealoha-Albarado and Kalia Shimabukuro.
Under 14 Boys
Brandon Beydoun netted a hat trick and Brianna Binder added a goal to lead the NS Nation FC BU14 to a 4-3 edge over the Rush BU14 who got goals from Nakoa Dryer, Kody Gardner and Ryan Yavinsky.
Benjamin Griep found the net twice and Conor Hunt, Andrew King and Chysen Lagunes-Rapozo each scored once to lead Team Onipaa ’00 Boys BU14 to a 5-2 win over Keahi BU14, who got nets from Braden Lumabao and Bingem Pellin.
Under 16
Jesse Perez Cruz got a hat trick, Kaitlynne Bukoski added two goals and Michael Dewitt added a score to lead the division leading Rush North Blue BU16 to a 6-2 win over the Rush North White BU15, who got its scores from Jared Schaefer in the first game of a double-header.
During the second match, Gabriel Franklin took the lead with a hat trick as the Rush North Blue BU16 rolled over the Rush North White BU16, 11-3.
The Rush North White BU16 got two goals from Samuel Johnson and a net from Jesse Perez Cruz in the nightcap effort.
Helping Gabriel, Justin Franklin, Jared Schaefer and Matthew Schimidt each netted two goals with Tuteani Tuturu adding a score.
Under 18
The Kauai Sparks GU18 took both ends of its double-header against the Warrior Nation GU18, winning the opener, 7-0 behind a hat trick from Marissa Ruiz, two goals from Kaitlynne Bukoski and a net from Aleigha Scovel.
The Kauai Sparks GU18 took a 1-0 win off the field after the Warrior Nation GU18 forfeited its nightcap.
Games in the KSA fall league continues on Sunday starting at 11 a.m. at the North Vidinha fields.
