Kiyoto Miyashiro
Kiyoto Miyashiro of Kapaa, Kauai, passed away on Friday, Oct. 4, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Kiyoto was born on Aug. 2, 1928, in Wailua Homesteads, and is survived by his brother, Sueo Miyashiro; sisters Sakiko Miyashiro, Michiko (George) Brace, and Marion (Wesley) Harris; nephews and nieces, Julie Miyashiro, Barry Brace, Jan Miyashiro, Tisha Forfia, and Jonathan Harris; and numerous cousins.
Family and friends are invited to a gathering honoring Kiyoto at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12. The address is 5859 Kawaihau Road in Kapahi where Kiyoto farmed and gardened for over 60 years. No flowers or koden, casual attire.
Garden Island Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
Violet Hee
Violet Charlotte Lee Hee, of Lihue passed away at her home on Oct. 4, 2013, at the age of 97. She was born on Oahu on March 25, 1916. She retired from a long career in education having taught at Hanamaulu School and Waimea High School, then serving as an educational officer at the Department of Education’s District Office in Lihue.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hong Min Hee; brothers, Dr. Alexander (Vivian) Lee and Henry (Clara) Lee and grandson, Rick L. Demaris.
She is survived by her three sons, Stephen M. (Arlene) Hee of Brush Prairie, WA; Bob A. Hee of Waimea, Kauai and Randall J. (Nancy) Hee of Kekaha, Kauai; three grandchildren, Malia (Brian Flannery) Hee of Corvallis, OR; Noelani (Jeffery) Schille of Vancouver, WA and Puanani Hee of Kekaha, Kauai; sister, Mabel Cornwell of Honolulu, Oahu; 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lihue with visitation from 8 a.m. and services celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Aloha attire.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family suggests donations be made to Catholic Charities Hawaii, Kauai Community College (UHF Kauai CC) or Delta Kappa Gamma Eta Chapter. Please memo donations “In Memory of Violet Hee”.
