Ocean safety will take the spotlight during the Hawaiian Marine Environment free series 6 tonight at the Hanapepe Public Library.
Dr. Monty Downs, president of the Kauai Lifeguard Association, will be joined by Pat Durkin in focusing on the water awareness and visitor education program.
Gina Kaulukukui, head of Kauai Bridges, a grief counseling service, will also be part of the presentation along with Jim Jung, vice president of KLA, hosting an ocean safety display.
Durkin has more than 40 years of experience in aquatic recreation and safety.
The Hawaiian Marine Environment lecture series is sponsored by the Friends of the Hanapepe Public Library.
