Happy Fourth of July, Kauai (July 4th falls on Thursday)!
Briana Kasman of Chicago and Alicis D’Alessandro of Albay, NY, said they’ll be at one of the Kekaha homesites for the Kauai Habitat for Humanity, enjoying the Fourth on the Westside.
Priscilla Badua and Becky Komaki (they were at the Saturday Kauai Community Market) said the West Kauai Methodist Church will be selling their famous malasadas (Becky’s family recipe) at the Kekaha event, too.
Kudos to coaches Bobby Kamakele of the Kaulupono basketball program and Clarence Sales of the Team Central program on hosting two great basketball tournaments. Coach Brandon Moises said it was all to get ready for the next season, and coach Dino Pabre said the Westside boys lost their semifinal game at the buzzer.
Just a great bunch of basketball and a good chance to see Kori Sakamoto do some officiating along with coaching and playing (in the Women’s 18 and Over league). Jessi Aki is home from college and also took her turn coaching some of the Kauai Ballers teams.
OK, time to go check out Annette Wong and the StarWish Fourth at the Sheraton Kauai Resort.
