Fundraiser to launch Kauai Beach Guide Android app

LIHUE — Vicki Sterne, founder of Beach Toolz, LLC, has launched an Indiegogo fundraiser to create an Android version of her Kauai Beach Guide iPhone app.

“I want to keep people safe,” Sterne said. “That’s why I’m doing it.”

The app features beach safety information, ocean reports and weather.

With 11 drownings on Kauai so far this year, Sterne said it is “more important than ever” to reach as many residents and visitors as possible.

Sterne has until July 5 to reach her goal of $15,000, the amount it will cost to design and develop the app for the Android operating system.

The app is featured at the end of the new ocean safety video shown at the Lihue Airport baggage claim areas.
