KIPU – The westbound lane of Kaumuali‘i Highway, near mile marker 5 in Kipu, was closed for roughly an hour following a two-car collision Monday.
The incident occurred about 11 a.m., just west of Halfway Bridge, when a Toyota SUV was rear-ended by a Dodge truck. Both vehicles were traveling west at the time of the collision.
The 44-year-old male driver of the Toyota SUV and his two passengers, a 31-year-old female and an 8-month-old infant, were transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital. The driver suffered minor abrasions but refused medical treatment.
The infant and female passenger were evaluated at the hospital and later released.
The 23-year-old driver of the Dodge did not report any injuries.
