John-Eric Parinas
John-Eric Parinas of Eleele, Kauai, died on March 14, 2013 at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 35. Born on August 15, 1977, in Waimea, Kauai, he was an IT Technician with ITT.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Fernando and Antonia Parinas.
He is survived by his parents, Nestor and Avelina Parinas of Eleele; brother, Jay (Gail) Parinas of Waipahu; grandparents, Alvaro and Beatriz Serapio of Eleele; aunts, Rose Perona of Chicago, Leticia Delacruz of Philippines, Zeny (Clem) Lum of Las Vegas, Cris (Roel) Acob of Eleele; uncles, Donato (Mercy) Parinas of Kekaha, Puliriano (Connie) Parinas of Sacramento, CA, Amado (Rebecca) Serapio of Eleele, Hory (Leticia) Serapio of Eleele, Fidel (Estrella) Serapio of Kaumakani; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, with viewing from 8:30 am to 10:00 am, and Mass to be celebrated at 10 am. Burial will follow at the Hanapepe Public Cemetery.

Peter Kawanana Kali, Sr.
Peter Kawanana Kali, Sr. of Kalaheo, Kauai, Hawaii, passed away on March 6, 2013, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 63. Born on Kauai on March 15, 1949, he was employed by the State of Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by parents, Albert and Christina Kali; brothers, Samuel, Albert, John, Alexander, Lot, and Patrick Kali; and sister, Olga Holi.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta Jardin Kali; daughter, Clarice Kaleolani Kali; son, Peter “PK” Kali; sisters, Christina Kali, Hyacinth Miller, Gladys Tawata, Carol Edwards, and Emma DeCosta; brothers, Henry and Anthony Kali; grandson, Kalen Kamalanikaumaka Kakutani; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel, Koloa, with visitation at 9 a.m. and services at 10 a.m.

Satoyo Kurihara
Satoyo Takenaka Kurihara of Lihue passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on March 16, 2013, at the age of 89. She was born in Kapaa on May 19, 1923, and was a dedicated homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kunio Iida; grandson, Darrin Kunio Iida; great-grandson, Michael Kunio Iida.
She is survived by her husband, James Kurihara; two sons, Isaac (Sun) Iida of Oahu, Daniel (Chung) Iida of Lihue; one daughter, Sharon (Jim) Richards of Berkeley, California; 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; one sister, Tokiko Tada of Lihue; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held. Family requests no Koden.

Masako Uno Ohama
Masako Uno Ohama of Honolulu passed away on March 13, 2013 at the age of 87. She was born in Honolulu. She was a retired UH Extension Home Economist with Federal Government.
She is survived by daughters; Elise Ohama; Stacy Ohama; and Nancy Matsuoka; brother; Yoshio Uno; sisters; Ethel Nishi; Dorothy Hamada; Ann Inouye; and Takako Ishikawa; two granddaughters. Private services held.

Charles Lee Giddens
Charles Lee Giddens of Papakolea, died on February 14, 2013 at his home in Kapaa at the age of 66. Born on October 1, 1946, in Honolulu, Hawaii, he was a Vietnam Veteran with the US Air Force and retired firefighter with the Honolulu Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly K. Sakai-Giddens; sons, Howard J. “Ikaika” Giddens and Imiloa J. Sakai-Giddens; daughters, Kananiokaaina C. “Kanani” Giddens-Hulama and Puanani P. Giddens-Cortez; parent, Cecilia K. Lindo; brothers, Marshall E. Giddens, William H. Giddens, and Paul K. Lindo; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary, with 5:30 pm visitation and service at 6:30 pm.
Family suggests aloha attire, and requests that flowers be omitted.

Paul Yamauchi
Paul Yamauchi, 68, of Kalaheo, Kauai, passed away on March 20, 2013 at his home. Born on April 17, 1944, in Eleele, Kauai, he was a retired dental technician and owner of Kauai Dental Lab.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Uyechi; and sisters, Kiyoko Kubota, and Lorna Oshima.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Yamauchi; sons, Scott (Carrie) Yamauchi of Kalaheo; and Ryan (Shandi) Yamauchi of Hanapepe; brothers, Marvin Yamauchi of Kapaa; Sadao (Kazue) Uechi of Oahu; and Stanley (Clara) Uyechi of Oahu; and six grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai, with visitation from 10am to 11am, and service at 11am.

Pearl Rapozo-Santos
Pearl Mabel Keaona L. Rapozo-Santos of Anahola passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on March 21, 2013, at the age of 91. She was born in Kawaihau, Kauai on June 7, 1921, and was a dedicated homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Albert Arnold Borges Rapozo; and Alio Santos; parents David K. Lovell; and Daisy Valpoon Lovell; sisters, Emmaline White; Thelma Victorino; and Edna Spencer.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marleen Lawhorn; and Daisy (Robert) Fujimoto; 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; sister, Gladys Christian; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, March 29, 2013 with visitation from 9:30 and services beginning at 11:00 at Koolauhui’ia Protestant Church in Anahola. Inurnment will follow at the church cemetery.

Fumiko Koike
Fumiko Koike of Kapaa passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on March 22, 2013, at the age of 100. She was born in Kekaha on September 4, 1912 and was a dedicated homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her husband Sakae Koike.
She is survived by four children, Mazie (Robert) Kozuki; Alma (Robert) Yotsuda; Roy (Judy) Koike; Lester Koike; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Mariannina “Ann” Valenti of Princeville, Kauai, passed away on March 19, 2013 at Hoffman Estates, IL at the age of 86. Born on January 6, 1927, in Omaha, NE, she was a retired Credit Manager with Mitsubishi.
She is preceded by her husband, Errante Valenti; and son, Michael Valenti.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Valenti of Princeville; Toni Valenti of Princeville; Catherine Valenti of Princeville; Connie Valenti of Elgin, IL; and Angela Valenti of Stockholm, Sweden; sister, Josephine Bush of Omaha, NE; six grandchildren, Michele Valenti; Melissa Crawford; Jeni Margetis; Lori Valenti; Sophia Martensson; and Samuel Martensson; and a great-grandson, Jacob Margetis.
