When I mentioned went to Po‘ipu Tropical Burger to cover Drink of The Week, Aunty Amy’s eyes lit up with excitement.
“You got to talk about the Pineapple Passion Mai Tai,” she said. “It’s our signature drink.”
I thought, “Okay, one drink, no problemo. I can cover one drink.”
But, alas, sometimes one drink turns to two. And in this case, two turned to three. I was okay with it though. The more the merrier, right?
Like its diverse food menu, Po’ipu Tropical Burgers has a wide array of choice of cocktails called Tropical Teasers.
Pineapple Passion Mai Tai
The Pineapple Passion Mai Tai is Po‘ipu Tropical Burger’s signature drink. This wonderful, tropical delight is a refreshing blend of pineapple and passion juice, served up with rum and the restaurant’s signature special house recipe. It is priced at $7.95. This mai tai works well with Po‘ipu Tropical Burger’s burgers. They are inseparable.
Po‘ipu Sunset/Sunrise
Next, was the Po‘ipu Sunset/Sunrise. The name varies upon the time of day you drink it. This is a very sweet cocktail. It is blended with Pepe Lopez Tequila Gold, mango liqueur, pineapple juice and a splash of grenadine. The Po‘ipu Sunset/Sunrise runs for $7.25.
Pepper Mary
Aunty Amy’s personal favorite drink is the Pepper Mary. The Pepper Mary is a Bloody Mary with a twist. Instead of using vodka as its primary spirit, the Pepper Mary uses Southern Comfort, a domestically-made liqueur with fruit, spice and whiskey flavors. It is not on the menu, so be sure to ask for it. The Pepper Mary is a unique blend of savory and sweet flavor. It is priced at $7.50.
All of the drinks are wonderful and unique. They are refreshing, sweet and complex. Personally, if you’re going to have a burger, you should definitely have it with the Pineapple Passion Mai Tai.
