AARP TaxAide needs help

LIHU‘E — AARP TaxAide is asking for volunteers to help out Kaua‘i’s elderly and, in the meantime, get some training on how to file tax returns.

Volunteers for AARP TaxAide, which prepares almost 400 returns on Kaua‘i per year, would take a three- to four-day training class the week of Jan. 28.

Individuals would be tested on IRS regulations and then provide tax preparation and e-filing to seniors and low-income filers at no cost. All tax preparation is done using a program provided by the IRS.

One can improve his or her tax knowledge and enjoy the thanks of people who do not do their own taxes.
