LIHU‘E — The National Weather Service has extended its high surf advisory through the weekend.
The service has issued a warning for the east-facing shores of Kaua‘i, O‘ahu, Moloka‘i, Maui and the Big Island.
The advisory is in effect now until 6 p.m. Tuesday. It was scheduled to expire Friday evening.
The weather service says to expect surf of 6- to 9-feet and warns that large breaking waves will cause hazardous conditions in the surf zone, including dangerous rip currents.
