HANAPEPE — Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity is seeking interested low- to moderate-income fee simple homeowners in Anahola, Hanalei, Hanama‘ulu, Kapa‘a, Kekaha, Kilauea, Koloa and Waimea who need plumbing and electrical repairs to make their homes safe and livable.
Under its Repair and Renovation Program, Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity works with qualified low- to moderate-income homeowners and offer a zero-interest loan to make essential home repairs that will allow the homeowners to live in their houses longer and under better conditions, according to a press release.
“It’s challenging to own your own home, especially when repairs are needed and it seems hopeless when you have limited income,” said Executive Director Stephen Spears in the release. “This is a great opportunity for low- to moderate-income homeowners. They take on a zero-interest loan to finance the cost of the repairs. We help with a ‘hand-up,’ not a hand-out.”
Residents in the above-listed areas whose incomes fall between 30 to 80 percent of the Kaua‘i Median Income are encouraged to inquire. To begin the process, homeowners must complete an Interest Form which is available at the KHFH office in Hanapepe or online at www.kauaihabitat.org under the “Own a Home” tab, “Repair and Renovation Program.”
