KAPA‘A — Ray McCormick, the Kaua‘i district engineer with the Hawai‘i State Department of Transportation, will be the featured speaker at the Wailua-Kapa‘a Neighborhood Association’s (W-KNA) meeting at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kapa‘a Library.
“Direct dialogue is the best way to communicate with the government agencies that provide our vital public services,” said W-KNA Secretary Sid Jackson, who hopes residents will take this opportunity to bring their questions.
Free and open to the public, the event will feature a discussion about projects in the Kawaihau District and also provide information about the Kapule Highway resurfacing project.
The status of the Kuhio Highway widening project from the Temporary Bypass to Kuamo‘o Road will be presented, with updates on the county’s proposed multi-use path adjacent to the state highway along Wailua Beach, according to a press release.
McCormick will also discuss the Kapa‘a Relief Route, known as the “permanent” Kapa‘a Bypass and the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for that project.
Updates on the Kapa‘a Circulation Plan, the Kapa‘a Roundabout Beautification project and information about other initiatives such as the statewide Long-Range Transportation Plan and the Hawai‘i Scenic Byways Program will be shared.
