Adam Brun Sr.
Adam Ronald (Ron) Brun Sr. of Waianae, Hawaii, passed away on September 5, 2012 in Waianae at the age of 73. Born on January 11, 1939 in Eleele, Kauai, he was a retired owner of Ron’s Enterprises LLC, a former owner of Mary’s Malasadas, and Hawaii’s own Fried Malasada Ice Cream.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam Brun and Daisy Vidinha; sisters, Grace Brun and Barbara Waalani.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Brun (Nagatani); sons, Robert (Lorna) Brun, and Adam Brun; daughters, Rhonda (Louie) Sanchez, Leona Brun, Stephanie (Bam) Ferreira, Shana Santiago (Lance); step-daughter, Lorraine (Jason) Respicio; brothers, Patrick (Helen) Brun, Richard “Ricky” Waalani; sisters, Margie (Bill) Cerney, Anna (Al) Braun, Linda (Richard) Nawai, Lexi (Randall) Cummings, Mary (Wesley) Yorkman, Antonella (Carl) Schumacher; 17 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo, HI. Viewing will begin at 10 am with service to follow at 11 am.
Casual attire is requested.
Luella “Tida” Moniz
Luella “Tida” Leilani Kelekoma Moniz of Anahola died peacefully at home on September 30, 2012, at age 76. Born on February 12, 1936, she was a retired Housekeeping Supervisor with Kiahuna Plantation.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Moniz Sr.; parents, Franklin & Luella Kelekoma; brothers, Franklin Kelekoma Sr., Alexander Kelekoma; sister, Darlene Oshiro; and step-mother, Delores Kelekoma.
She is survived by her seven children, Gilbert (Elvera) Moniz, Wilson (Tammy) Moniz, Kelvin (Janel) Moniz, Kawika (Sherry) Moniz, Moku (Clover) Moniz, Shana (Sami Soni) Tupou, Melinda (Robin) Correa; brothers, Clay (Leonora) Kelekoma, Ainsley (Linda) Kelekoma, David (Christina) Kelekoma; sister-in-laws, Tomie Kelekoma, Molly Kuhaulua; brother-in-law, Al Oshiro; step-brother, Mark (Stephanie) Arthur; 23 grand children, 12 great-grand children; and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.
Friends may visit the family on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary, Koloa. Viewing will begin at 9am with service to follow at 11am. Scattering of ashes will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2012-12pm at Hanamau’lu Beach.
Casual attire is requested.

Tadao Suemori
Tadao Suemori died on September 5, 2012 at Mahelona Medical Center at the age of 89. Born on October 26, 1922, in Lihue, Kauai, he was a Specialist First Class with the 442nd Infantry, United States Army.
He is survived by his sisters, Barbara Homberg of California and Namiko (Donald) Fukuda of Honolulu; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.

Josephine Carrillo
Josephine K. Carrillo died on October 6, 2012 at Hale Kupuna at the age of 87. Born on April 18, 1925, in Lihue, Kauai, she was a Room Supervisor with Kauai Surf Hotels.
She is survived by his sisters, Mary Nakaahiki of Omao and Elizabeth Pak of Sunnyvale, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, October 12, 2012, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai. Visitation starts at 9 am, services at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

MaryAnn Aki
MaryAnn Aki of Anahola passed away October 1, 2012 at the age of 93. Born on September 28, 1919 in Moloa’a, Kauai, MaryAnn was a retired housekeeper for Kauai Sands.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Miller Aki; son, Fred Aki Sr.; and great-granddaughter Moana Benzon-Aki.
She is survived by her children, William (Hazel) Aki, Marian (Robert) Delapenia, Alfred (Helen) Aki, Richard (Priscilla) Aki, Melvin (Sandra) Aki, George (Joyce) Aki; daughter-in-law, Wanda Aki; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Ko’olau Hui’ia (Anahola) Church. Visitation from 9-10 with services to follow.
Family requests casual attire and flowers be omitted, interment will be held on a later date.
Shinji Miwa
Shinji Miwa passed away at his home in Wailua, Kauai, on July 31, 2012, at the age of 100. Born in Lihue on February 6, 1912, he was a teacher at Kauai High School until he retired in 1972.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mitsue Togioka Miwa.
He is survived by his daughters, Marilyn Miwa and Judith Stambaugh (Michael) Iwai; granddaughter, Lisa (Eric) Gordon of Napa, California; and great grandchildren, Madison and Chase Gordon. He also is survived by his sister, Yuki (Takashi) Kitaoka, of Honolulu.
Private services were held.
Funeral arrangements were made by Garden Island Mortuary.
