Repairs at Hanalei refuse transfer station to affect mixed waste operation

HANALEI — Beginning Monday, loose mixed waste will not be accepted at the Hanalei refuse transfer station for approximately three weeks, according to a County of Kaua‘i news release.

The work is to allow repairs on a structural component of the mixed waste hopper.

While the work is being done, anyone who would like to dispose of loose mixed waste can take their items to the Kapa‘a refuse transfer station.

The Hanalei station will still be accepting bagged trash, along with green waste, scrap metals, appliances, propane tanks, used tires and residential used motor oil and motor oil filters for recycling and residential recyclables in the Kaua‘i Recycles drop bins.

The normal operating hours at all transfer stations are 9:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Call the Solid Waste Division at 241-4841 for details.
