LIHU‘E — Not all the cases in 5th Circuit Court land on the front page, however, there are several changes of pleas and sentencings throughout the week to note in two courts.
In Judge Kathleen Watanabe’s court on Monday, Dustin Kaleookalani Woodward, 30, of Princeville, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of unsworn falsification to authorities stemming from an Oct. 16, 2010 incident.
Woodward’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for Nov. 14.
On Tuesday, Brian K. Lopes pleaded no contest on two counts of violating the sex offender registry reporting requirements. He had faced 21 felony counts.
Chief Judge Randal Valenciano set the sentencing hearing for Nov. 28.
Valenciano granted the motion of a defendant to reconsider a one-year sentence and reduced it to seven months time-served.
Joshua Jamin Hauck, 31, of Princeville, was serving a sentence for a terroristic threatening case. He appeared via phone from O‘ahu.
In Watanabe’s court on Tuesday, Zachary Aukai Schwartz, 23, of Kilauea, pleaded guilty to unauthorized possession of personal information. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 29.
Schwartz is currently serving a one-year sentence and a five-year probation on other charges in Valenciano’s court on Aug. 14.
Watanabe granted a motion to release Glen Mitchell Gruenhagen from a supervised release sentence he had served since 2004 on a first-degree marijuana possession charge.
On Wednesday, Shan Costa Brum, 37, of Kapa‘a, pleaded no contest for two counts of felony possession of methamphetamine, and two counts of felony use of drug paraphernalia.
Judge Watanabe scheduled Costa-Brum’s sentencing for Dec. 5.
Hilton Kalanipio Niau, 27, of Hanapepe, pleaded no contest to third-degree assault, a misdemeanor and to an amended count harassment, a petty-misdemeanor. He was sentenced immediately to 90 days on the assault charge and 30 days for the other with credit for nearly three months time served.
On Thursday in Valenciano’s court, Martha Smith, 54, pleaded no contest to an amended charge of third-degree promotion of a detrimental drug. It was for possession of marijuana on Sept. 14, 2011, and her sentencing is set for Nov. 29.
Verna Tanya Huddy, 45, of Kapa‘a, pleaded no contest to misdemeanor abuse of family or household member. The incident occurred on Feb. 6, and sentencing is set for Nov. 29.
Shan Costa-Brum, 37, of Kapa‘a, changed his plea to no contest for an amended petty misdemeanor charge of third-degree assault — mutual affray. He was sentenced to time-served and is facing other charges.
Hilton Kalanipio Niau, 28, of Hanapepe, pleaded no contest to criminal contempt of court. He was sentenced to 90 days for missing his change of plea court date on Nov. 1, 2011.
Matthew Alexander Caminos, 28, of Kapa‘a, had his probation revoked and received new five-year probation term with 90 days jail. He admitted to probation violations including missing urinalysis appointments and meetings.
Shauday Pulelehua Ragudo, 26, of Kapa‘a, pleaded no contest to felony third-degree promotion of methamphetamine. Her sentencing is set for Dec. 6.
