May Day at the museum

The Kaua‘i Museum celebrated its 32nd annual Lei Contest and May Day Celebration May 5.

Dozens of colorful lei were on display, including kui, haku, hili, humupapa, kipu‘u and wili.

Happy and Katsugi Tamanaha helped coordinate the return of the Keiki La Lei Contest, which encouraged young lei makers to enter in the annual contest.

The museum also hosted a live and silent auction, demonstrations and workshops with lei makers.
