Gertrudis Agmata
Gertrudis “Matda/Tuding/Trudis” V. Agmata died on April 30, 2012 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital with her family beside her at the age of 63. She was born in Laoag City, Philippines and was a resident of Hanama‘ulu, Kaua‘i. She worked more than 20 years at Kaua‘i Beach Resort in the housekeeping department before retiring.
She is survived by her husband, Epifanio Agmata; daughter, Eumalyn Mabini (Cedric Alonzo); sister, Eugenia (Bernardo) Anselmo; niece, Rowena (Wendell) Badua; nephew, Ronald (Marie Tess) Anselmo; and numerous cousins.
Join the family May 11 at 6 p.m., at the Hanama‘ulu residence as they celebrate and reminisce over her life. Service to be held on May 12, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Visitation is from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., with Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Lihu’e Cemetery. Please join the family for lunch at Hanama‘ulu residence.

Mollie Ching
Mollie Hee Ching of Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i died on April 21, 2012 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 102. Born Oct. 19, 1909 in Hanapepe, she was a teacher at Kapa‘a Elementary School. She was preceded in death by husband, Henry Ching and parents, Hee Hong & Lin Choy Lum Hee. She is survived by Adrienne (Mihaly) Lenart of Palm Springs, California; Gary (Marilyn) Ching of Auburn, Washington; Lorna Ching of Kapa‘a; Charles Hee of Honolulu; numerous nieces and nephews and two grandchildren.
A private celebration of life will be held. Arrangements by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary, Koloa, Kaua‘i.
Regina Lagundino
Regina Agoo Lagundino died on April 27, 2012, at her home in Kealia, at the age of 87. She was born to Carlota and Mamerto Agoo in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, on Sept. 6, 1924.
Regina was a former elementary school teacher in the Philippines and a former owner of the Lagundino Care Home on Kaua‘i.
Regina is survived by two daughters, Esther (Rolando) Tunac of Wailua and Ruth (Lyle) Stemo of Kealia; one sister, Martina Semana of Hanama‘ulu; six grandchildren, Alicia (Andrew) Lagundino-Schimmel of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., John (Shieryl) Silva of Carol Stream, Ill., Meryssa Tunac of Carol Stream, Ill., Justin (Marisa) Silva of Milwaukie, Ore., Ashley Tunac of Jacksonville, Fla., and Michael Tunac of Honolulu, Hawai‘i; two great-grandchildren, Salef Silva and Cleonie Silva of Carol Stream, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Regina is preceeded in death by her husband, Eusebio Lagundino, and her sisters, Lucita Acacio and Rose Acacio.
Services will be held on May 8 at the Kapa‘a Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Visitation will occur from 8 to 10 a.m. Service will begin at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens. The family welcomes flowers and suggests casual attire.
John Taboniar
John Taboniar, 74, of Hilo, Hawai‘i, died on April 3, 2012, at home. Born on Oct. 16, 1937, in Wahiawa, Hawai‘i, he was a retired Meteorological Technician for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration — National Weather Service.
He was a graduate of St. Louis High School on O‘ahu and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo and St. Theresa Church in Kekaha, Kaua‘i. John served in the U.S. Air Force, he was an avid softball player and enjoyed singing in the St. Joseph and St. Theresa Church choirs.
He was preceded in death by his father, Julio Taboniar; mother, Mary Rodrigues; brother, Herbert Callejo; and grandson, Corbin Jon Kaimana Reynolds.
He is survived by his wife, Violet Ann Taboniar of Hilo; sons, Michael Alan (Naomi) Taboniar of Kaua‘i, David Anthony (Rose) Taboniar of Kaua‘i, Matthew Jon (Marah) Taboniar of Kaua‘i; daughter, Jonnie Anne (Daynes) Reynolds of Kaua‘i; brothers, Benny (Juanita) Callejo of Kaua‘i and Joseph (Julie) Taboniar of Kaua‘i; sisters, Ruby Rivera of Kaua‘i, Betsy (Edwin) Shinagawa of Kaua‘i, Joanna Castillo of Kaua‘i, Julie (Fred) Patricio of Kaua‘i, Salina (Vincent) Sonoda of Kaua‘i; sister-in-law,Mae Callejo of Kaua‘i; eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation on Hawai‘i Island will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday, April 27, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Eulogy at 9:45 a.m. Memorial Mass at 10 a.m.
Visitation on Kaua‘i will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, at St. Theresa Church, Kekaha, Kaua‘i. Eulogy at 10:45 a.m. Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Casual attire.
