LIHU‘E — The future role of bio-energy in the state’s alternative energy mix will be the topic at a meeting of the Lihu‘e Business Association at 7:30 a.m. April 26 at Duke’s Canoe Club at Kalapaki Beach. The meeting is free and open to the public.
Hawai‘i BioEnergy LLC Executive Vice President and COO Joel Matsunaga will address the meeting.
The mission of Hawai‘i BioEnergy is “to reduce Hawai‘i’s energy costs, green house gas emissions, and dependence on imported fossil fuels through the research and development of local renewable bio-energy projects.”
The company is researching viable processing techniques and distribution channels for a variety of energy crops, including sugarcane, woody biomass and algae.
