Even Librarians of the Year must eat, and Karen Ikemoto, the 2012 Librarian of the Year, was doing her share, picking up take outs at the Kiwanis French Toast Breakfast on Sunday.
Joann Parongao had her Tsunami Taiko group playing “quietly,” and Kaua‘i Punua wow-ed the crowd with her young steel (guitar) player.
Mary Lardizabal had some of her Heritage Music Festival winners playing ‘ukulele, singing and dancing hula for the annual event.
Hats off to Cheryl Shintani and Mary Pigao for getting the “green” in the breakfast where Key Club members were segregating uneaten food from paper and styrofoam for more intelligent disposal, the uneaten food earmarked for a local livestock producer and so on down the chain.
Key Club member Gabby Buist was busy with Ocean Count mapping duties Saturday and still made it to breakfast Sunday. Jean Souza of the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary was doing the Ocean Count and got to enjoy her first Kiwanis breakfast Sunday.
