Volunteers are needed for the Garden Island Tri-Fest on Saturday, Kaua‘i Path spokesman Tommy Noyes said.
The Garden Island Tri-Fest is a multi-sports event featuring running, swimming and stand-up paddle board events at 7 a.m. at the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort and Beach Club.
“The Tri-Fest is made possible with the support of many volunteers, and Kaua‘i Path is helping with volunteer recruitment,” Noyes said. “I’ll be on site through the morning assisting with volunteer coordination.”

The 2012 Tri-Fest is honoring the memory of Joel Ehrlich with proceeds benefiting Habitat for Humanity and the Rotary Club of Po‘ipu Beach Scholarship fund.
Participants are advised to be on site by 7 a.m. for the running events, which include a Kids Duathlon for youngsters ages 5 through 12, Splash & Dash in 5k, 750M, or 5K distances, a 5K Run/Walk and SUP Paddle Event. Participants in the SUP event must be on site by 9:30 a.m.
Because Saturday is St. Patrick’s Day, there will be Irish and Hawaiian entertainment.
Participants and volunteers are encouraged to wear green to avoid getting pinched.
