Students from Kaua‘i’s high schools had an opportunity to meet with state legislators, Nov. 30 to Dec. 2 during the Hawai‘i Secondary Student Conference in Honolulu.
Meeting at the Hawai‘i State Capitol, the student delegates discussed key issues, participated in hearings and floor session and voted on resolutions.
Students also had an opportunity to meet with legislators and listen to guest speakers, states a release from The Senate.
The SSC is an annual conference for selected secondary students established by ACT 94 which was signed into law on June 16, 1970 by Governor John Burns.
The purpose of SSC is to provide secondary school students the opportunity to identify, discuss and arrive at recommended solutions to major your problems with emphasis on school problems which require the attention and joint action by the students, the state’s Department of Education and the Hawai‘i State Legislature.
