Seichi Akagi
Seichi Akagi of Kilauea (formerly of Kaumakani) died peacefully at Garden Isle Healthcare on Nov. 17, 2011 at age 102. He was a retired supervisor of Olokele Sugar Plantation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rikita and Naka Akagi; brother, Takeru (Toshiko) Akagi of Kaumakani; sisters, Yoshie Hirai of Japan, Ayano (Kanichi) Kodama of Hanalei and his son, Ted Akagi.
He is survived by his wife, Hisae; son, Alvin (Mary) Akagi of Plymouth Michigan; daughters, Joyce Nagata of Kilauea; Pamela Watanabe of Wailua; sister, Chieko Namehara of Japan; numerous nephews, niece, grandnieces and grandnephews.
A private service officiated by Reverend Leonard Abeshima was held Dec. 3 at Waimea Shingon Mission. The family appreciates the many expressions of sympathy and condolences and gratefully requests no koden be given.
The family extends a sincere thank you to Dr. Eric Yee and the entire staff at Garden Isle Healthcare who for many years so ably and lovingly served as his caregivers.

Donald Ditch
Donald Uldric Ditch died at his home on Oct. 22, 2011, in San Antonio, Texas. Born Nov. 21, 1949, in Honolulu, he was a self-employed landscaper, he worked for the UPS Postal Service and was a Navy veteran.
He grew up on Kaua‘i and graduated from Kaua‘i High School, later attending the University of Hawai‘i. He was a devoted father and grandfather. Active in sports, he maintained passionate interests in football and basketball and was a coach and referee. His favorite hobbies were fishing and hiking.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ramona Akiyama, and step-father, Minato “Peanut” Akiyama.
He is survived by sons, Uldrich (Jessica) Ditch, Warren Stewart Ditch; daughter, Angela Carerra; grandson, Michael (Mikey) Carrera; sisters, Camellia (Kent) Crosby and Cherisse (Eugene) Relacion; brothers, Warren (Connie) Ditch, Jr. and Stewart (Faye) Ditch; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Scattering of his ashes will be held at a later date on Kaua‘i.

Mabel Murakoshi
Mabel Shigeyo Murakoshi of Lihu‘e, formerly of Kailua, O‘ahu, died at Garden Isle Health Care on Nov. 27, 2011, at age 95. She was born in Aiea, O‘ahu on Oct. 29, 1916, and retired as an assistant administrator at Leeward Hospital Aiea.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Murakoshi.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Billie Rae) Murakoshi; daughter, Kathy (Michael) Okada of Kailua, O‘ahu; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, Dec. 12, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary with visitation from 5 p.m. and services celebrated at 6 p.m. Family graciously requests no Koden.

Toru Kawakami
Toru Kawakami of Kalaheo died on Nov. 14, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 90. He was born on Oct. 1, 1921, in Port Allen. He was a real estate broker and developer and owner of Yoneji Realty. Also together with his parents, brothers, sisters and associates, he was one of the founders of N.F. Kawakami Stores Ltd., and Big Save, Inc.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Fukuo Kawakami; his parents, Fukataro and Hisa Kawakami; his brothers, Norito Kawakami of Honolulu and Keiji Kawakami of Honolulu and sister-in-law, Mitsuko Kawakami.
He is survived by his wife, May Kawakami of Kalaheo; his grandchildren, Sonoi and Chance Kawakami; brother, Dan Kawakami (Mitsuko) of Placentia, Calif.; sisters, Yukie (Tsukasa) Murakami of Hanapepe and Mabel (Norman) Hashisaka of Kalaheo; sisters-in-law, Joan (Norito) Kawakami of Honolulu and Edith (Keiji) Kawakami of Honolulu; brother-in-law, Ben K. Tsutsumi of Santa Maria, Calif.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, at St. John’s Church in ‘Ele‘ele; service at 10 a.m. Casual attire is suggested.
Akiko Coleman
Akiko K. Coleman of Lawa‘i died on Dec.1, 2011, at her home at age 80. Born on April 17, 1931, in Nagoya, Japan, she was the owner of Hawaiian Trading Post.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruth Ann Coleman.
She is survived by daughter, Mary “Lizzie” Coleman Cope (Don) of Po‘ipu; granddaughters, Gabriella and Brianna Cope and caregiver Launi Alo.
Friends may visit with the family at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Garden Island Mortuary chapel. Service will be held at 11 a.m., followed by burial at Kalapaki Bay Memorial Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Mitsuo Torigoe
Mitsuo Torigoe of Lihu‘e died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Oct. 29, 2011 at the age of 92. Born in Wahiawa, Kaua‘i on Jan. 7, 1919, he retired from Big Save Markets as a manager.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Liberty Torigoe; and brothers, Hisato and Sunato.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth (Karen) Torigoe of Lihu‘e; three daughters, Esther (Walter) Nakata of Lihu‘e, Marian (Benjamin) Ligsay of O‘ahu, Jane (Terry) Sasahara of Lihu‘e; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.

Evaron Haumea Sr.
Evaron Ipolani Haumea, Sr. of Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i passed away on Nov. 28, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 64. Born on Sept. 30, 1947, in Waimea, he retired as a truck driver.
He is survived by his daughters, Cristie (Lonnie) James, Sr. of Wash.; Rachelle Noe (Earl Thronas, Sr.) Haumea of Wailua; Desiree Haumea of Wailua; son, Ipo (Stacy Waikoloa) Haumea of Wailua; brothers, Terrance (Girlie) Castillo and Shane (Linga) Castillo; sisters, Keikilani (Wayne) Harada, Sr.; Wendy (Glen) Tano and Jonelle Word; step brother, Joseph (Lusalle) Andrade; step sisters, Agnes (Joseph) Perreira; Cecilia (Bernard) Perreira and Rosemary (Americo) Morris; sister-in-law, Lita Haumea; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Douglas Gould
Douglas Frank Gould of Kapa‘a finished his journey in life at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Dec. 2, 2011, at the age of 60. He was born in Milwaukee on Dec. 6, 1950. Although he was a quadriplegic since the young age of 20, he enjoyed swimming at Kapa‘a Public Swimming Pool, was an avid chess player, and loved his 1969 red Camaro racing at Mana Raceway Park.
He is survived by his wife, Susanne Gould of Kapa‘a; mother, Cecilia Gould; brother, John (Linda) Gould; sister, Annette (Gordy) Erdmann all of Wisconsin and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roland Mendoza
Roland Wusstig Mendoza of Paauilo and Yigo, Guam died on Dec. 4, 2011 at Hale Hoola Hamakua at the age of 53. Born on Oct, 28, 1958, in Tamuning, Guam, he was a heavy equipment operator for Guam Power Authority and an Army Veteran.
He is survived by his sisters, Marilyn Mendoza of Waikoloa; Brenda Medoza of Yigo, Guam; brothers, Bernard (Martha) Mendoza of Yigo, Guam; Gerson Mendoza, Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Eliazar (Melinda) Mendoza of El Paso, Texas; Raynaldo Mendoza of Yigo, Guam; Wilbert (Angie Molina) Mendoza of Koloa, Kaua‘i; numerous uncle, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held. Interment will be at Guam Veterans Cemetery in Piti, Guam.
