The Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort and Spa has been named the new headquarters hotel for the 2012 Kaua‘i Marathon scheduled for Sept. 2, 2012 in Po‘ipu.
Robin Jumper, the public relations officer for the Kaua‘i Marathon, said with the naming of the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i as the headquarters hotel, the event registration with its accompanying Sports and Fitness Expo, the Fun Run, VIP Dinner and other events will be featured at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i, located just minutes from the start and finish of the Kaua‘i Marathon.
In addition to the naming of the headquarters hotel, Jumper said the Kaua‘i Marathon is offering a Holiday special for kama‘aina and active military starting Dec. 1 and running through Dec. 15.
“The 2012 Kaua‘i Marathon is right around the corner and we are providing special holiday rates to all kama‘aina and active military for race entry fees,” Jumper said in an email.
During the special period, eligible runners can enter the half marathon for $40, a discount from the $65 regular fee, and the full marathon for $60, a discount from the regular $95 fee.
The discounts apply only to the half and full marathon for individual runners and is available either by visiting www.thekauaimarathon.com and filling out the “Kama‘aina Holiday Promotion” entry form, or by visiting the Kaua‘i Marathon booth at the Honolulu Marathon Expo on O‘ahu between Dec. 7 through 10.
The promotional entry fee is not available through active.com. There is also no transfers, rollovers, changes or refunds on the special promotion.
In addition to the half and full marathon, the Kaua‘i Marathon also offers a Marathon Relay. The half and full marathons are certified by USATF and AIMS.
The 2012 Kaua‘i Marathon will start at 6 a.m., Sept. 2, 2012 on Po‘ipu Road fronting Keoki’s Paradise and finish at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i, the new headquarters hotel.
