LIHU‘E — County officials announced that the December vehicle registration renewal notices for the entire state were printed with errors and were mistakenly mailed out by the contractor for the City and County of Honolulu
As a result of a computer programming error, the amounts due on all of the renewal notices are incorrect, states a press release from the county Finance Director. The amounts do not include the increase in the state motor vehicle weight tax and registration fee approved by the 2011 Legislature
Corrected renewal notices will be mailed with the words “corrected motor vehicle renewal” appearing above the mailing address.
Residents are asked to wait for the corrected mailing or pay in person at the Motor Vehicle Registration office. Another option is to renew their vehicle registration online. The correct amount due is reflected online and at the MVR office.
December vehicle registration renewals are due on December 31, 2011.
Go to mvr.ehawaii.gov/renewals to pay online or call the MVR at 241-4256 for more information.
