It’s time to whack some bushes at Trees Lounge. And if you show up at happy hour, you can do it for cheaper than usual.
Every evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., it’s Martini Madness at Trees, behind the Coconut Market Place in Wailua. The “Bushwacker” is one of the eight martini specials.
The “Bushwacker” is a sweet source of vanilla, creme de cacao, Irish cream and dark rum that is so mind-bending that it will send you head hunting little Ritatini, and picking up apples, lime and lemons dropping out of the cosmos in classic style.
There! You got the eight nightly martinis.
But don’t ask me to explain it. Just get off the couch and go shake your behinds every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at Trees, when they have a dancing license in effect — and yes, the Liquor Department requires a dancing license. Doesn’t that make you want to bob your head and tap your feet at a bar just for kicks?
Trees’ owners Candice and Mark Myers have a neat lounge which has promoted several local artists.
Their latest exhibit is from Kyle Doepke, a talented artist who mixes psychedelic surfing and skateboarding art with 1960s graphics and Heavy Metal magazine influences, peppered with pop art and image appropriation. Kyle actually never said any of this, but just walk in there and you’ll feel it.
Candice and Mark have prepared a neat surprise for music lovers: Makana is playing there this Thursday, at 6:30 p.m. and again at 9 p.m. Trees will shed its lounge bark and dress up as a nightclub, complete with a small admission price.
Candice said it’s going to be a nice, intimate show, and that she is excited to have a famous artist — who played at the White House for Prez Obama — play at Trees.
Trees Lounge is open Monday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to closing, with live music every day. Visit www.treesloungekauai.com to check the music schedule.
