Gladys Shizuka Daida of Lawa‘i died Oct. 12, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 85. She was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Port Allen, Kaua‘i.
She is survived by her husband, Sadamu Daida; sons, Bruce Daida of Lawa‘i and Barry (Merle) Daida of Mililani, Hawai‘i; daughters, Gloria Camp (Robert) of Fallbrook, Calif., Darlene Daida Martin (Richard) of Kalispell, Mont., Joy Faufata (Keith) of Ainakoa, Hawai‘i and Sherry Andrade (Michael) of Lawa‘i; seven grandchildren, Melani Dannenberg of Los Angeles, Eric (Christy) Dannenburg of Sun City, Calif., Kayla Faufata of O‘ahu, Noelle Faufata of Camp Pendleton, Calif., Skye (Victor) Andrade Ngo of Bellevue, Wash., Michael Daida and Paige Daida, both of O‘ahu; four great-grandchildren, Austin Dannenburg, Ashlyn Dannenberg, Callie Dannenburg and Tayler Dannenburg all of Sun City, Calif.; brothers, Susumu Shinagawa of Kaimuki, Hawai‘i, Charlie Shinagawa (Ethel) of Honolulu and Shigemi Shinagawa of Kailua, Hawai‘i; sister, Sadie Tateishi (William) Kaimuki, Hawai‘i; sister-in-law and best friend, Toshie Daida; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 28, at the Hanapepe Honpa Hongwanji Church; service to begin at 10 a.m. Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Donald Murakoshi
Donald Masao Murakoshi of Lihu‘e, formerly of Kailua, O‘ahu, died Oct. 14, 2011, at The Regency at Puakea at age 99. Born in Wahiawa, O‘ahu on May 13, 1912, he retired as a teacher with the Department of Education.
He was preceded in death by his brothers and sister, Robert, Harry and Natsuko.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel Murakoshi of Lihu‘e; son, Michael (Billie Rae) Murakoshi; daughter, Kathy (Michael) Okada of Kailua, O‘ahu; sisters, Grace Nakagawa and Noriko Murakoshi, both of Wahiawa; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary with visitation from 5 p.m. and services at 6 p.m.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Murakoshi family with arrangements.
