Brush fire burns 3 acres near resort

WAILUA — A brush fire that broke out in Wailua Friday night between Leho Drive and Kuhio Highway in the vicinity of Aloha Beach Resort burned approximately three acres, county officials said Saturday.

No one was injured and no structures were threatened, a county news release states.

Engine 2 and Truck 2 were the first to arrive on scene following the 12:40 a.m. alarm. Engine 3, Rescue 3, Engine 8, Truck 8 and Battalion Chief 1 also responded.

The fire was deemed under control at 1 a.m. and fully extinguished at 2 a.m., the release states.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
