Employment information and opportunities will be offered at the 10th annual Kaua‘i Job Fair sponsored by the county and WorkWise Kaua‘i, Oct. 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Lihu‘e Civic Center.
Jobseekers will have the opportunity to meet approximately 36 employers, including many that are currently hiring. Workshops on resume writing and interviewing tips will also be offered with schedules posted at the event.
Among the businesses that will be at the fair are: Aston Hotels and Resorts (Aloha Beach Resort, Aston Po‘ipu Kai, Islander on the Beach, and Waimea Plantation Cottages); Avis; Enterprise Holdings (Enterprise, Alamo and National); Frito Lay; Grand Hyatt Resort and Spa; Hawai‘i Pacific Health (Wilcox Memorial Hospital and Kaua‘i Medical Clinic); HMS Host; Kaua‘i Community Federal Credit Union; and Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital (Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital and West Kaua‘i Clinic).
Other businesses include: Kelly Services; Macy’s; Marriott Resorts (Kaua‘i Marriott Kalapak and Waiohai and Kaua‘i Lagoons); Nursefinders of Kaua‘i; Pioneer Hi-Bred International (Waimea Research Center); Sears; Sheraton Kaua‘i Resort; St. Regis Princeville; State Farm Insurance; Sullivan Family of Companies (Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Foodland and Food Pantry); and the Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas.
Additionally, representatives from a number of government and local agencies will be on hand including: Alu Like; Ho‘ola Lahui Hawai‘i; Kaua‘i Community College Office of Continuing Education; Kaua‘i County Department of Personnel Services; Kaua‘i Police Department; McKenna Recovery Center; and WorkWise Kaua‘i.
Employers who would like to participate in the job fair, but haven’t signed up yet should call WorkWise Kaua‘i at 274-3056 for a registration form, which must be completed and submitted by 2 p.m. today.
Jobseekers are encouraged to participate in a Park and Ride service for the event by parking their cars at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall parking lot and riding the Route 70 Lihu‘e shuttle to and from the job fair at no charge.
Pick up times at the convention hall bus stop, which is located on the side facing Wilcox Elementary School, will be 9:19 a.m., 10:19 a.m., 11:19 a.m. and 12:19 p.m.
Pick up times at the former Lihu‘e Big Save bus stop will be 10:38 a.m., 11:38 a.m., 12:38 p.m. and 1:38 p.m. to return to the convention hall.
Jobseekers are also advised to bring several copies of their resume to give to prospective employers or call WorkWise before the fair for help with resume-writing.
