The Alu Like Kupuna will be entertaining during a lunchtime performance at “Na Keiki Aloha o na ‘Ohana Caregivers” conference, Oct. 28 at the Kaua‘i Beach Resort.
Recently, na kupuna toured the Kaua‘i Care long term facility in Waimea where they spent the morning in mele before stopping at the Waimea Plantation Cottages, a congregate meal site for Native Hawaiians 60 and over, states an Alu Like release.
During the stop at Waimea Plantation, na kupuna were involved in instructions in health, nutrition and cultural education.
Kupuna are ready to entertain guests at their site where they enjoy Thursdays and Fridays with crafts, playing the ‘ukulele, singing and doing hula, states the release.
Current topics include financial literacy and hurricane awareness.
Kupuna also work on service projects, their current project involving creating floral cups for the Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital long term kupuna.
The group always welcome more kupuna to join their ‘ohana, the release states.
