Injured hiker rescued from Secret Falls

WAILUA — A Utah man was rescued near Secret Falls after injuring his ankle Wednesday afternoon, the county announced Thursday.

Kaua‘i Fire Department reports that the 49-year-old man had been hiking on the Secret Falls trail in Wailua when he fell and possibly broke his ankle at about 3:15 p.m.

KFD Rescue 3 and Engine 2 personnel hiked up the trail and found the hiker.

He was then transported to the marina aboard a DLNR boat where awaiting medics drove him to Wilcox Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.
