Foundation, Lions help food pantry

Kaua‘i Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. looks on as John Burkhouse of the Church of the Pacific food pantry program accepts a $10,000 check from the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation presented by the North Shore Lions Club who worked on expanding the church’s garden which will help supplement the the food pantry program. The work was done six weeks ago under the Weinberg Foundation friends program. Outreach Coordinator Gabrielle Pla said the church’s food pantry puts out 27 tables of food during its weekly distribution, serving between 180 and 250 people.
