Visitor helps out theft victims

O’Pry read The Garden Island story about Muirhead, a Kaua‘i native, and her California State–Northridge classmate Ellie Brooks, of Tiberon, Calif., who had her backpack stolen at a Po‘ipu beach last week. He was moved to act if only to show them that not all people are bad and wanted to help the two women recoup their financial losses in some small way. He called The Garden Island to see how he could help.

This was O’Pry’s first visit to Kaua‘i. He was here to meet with lawmakers about developing a small business program for veterans. He returned to Arizona Tuesday to continue his work around the country.
