If you had any doubts Indians can party — and dance — just like in their famous Bollywood movies, doubt no more.
The crew at Shivalik’s Indian Restaurant in Waipouli last week celebrated the place’s one-year anniversary by throwing a mega party, complete with Indian food, music and cultural dance.
After everyone had feasted in the incredible Indian delicacies from the only Indian restaurant on Kaua‘i, manager Bob Thakur and waiter Rahul Yadav took over the dance floor, sparing no moves and showing why they should’ve been in the movie industry rather than in the hospitality business.
But the family and friends of Bob and Rahul did not sit still. Everyone — from 4-year-old boys to 70-year-old doctors — boogied to electrifying Bollywood hits, which were in no shortage.
Attendance was by invitation-only, but you can still experience Shivalik’s. The restaurant is open every day for lunch buffet from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dinner is from 5 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday through Thursday a dinner buffet is also available.
Next time you’re there, just ask Rahul or Bob if they could show you a bit of their culture, and they might let it all hang out on the dance floor.
