The Courtyard by Marriott, going through an extensive renovation, is looking quite sharp these days. And so are its food and beverage outlets.
Cook’s Landing, the hotel’s restaurant and bar, has quite a few new drink and food choices that are worth checking out.
The “Coco Banana” is the natural evolution of the popular Piña Colada, with bananas and Amaretto liquor.
But great drinks and food aside, it’s the crew at Cook’s Landing that will make you feel like you’re a VIP.
Anahola wahine Nadia Troche has a degree in hospitality and tourism from Kaua‘i Community College. The tall bartender, who could have chosen to become a supermodel, dreams of pursuing a career in the visitor industry.
Nadia, believe it or not, is single. Here’s a good tip to wow her: She loves to dance. The rest is up to you.
O‘ahu beauty Shyan Kai moved here more than 12 years ago to help out with an uncle who had a terminal illness. She is now married — sorry — and has two beautiful girls, ages 5 and 18 months.
Shyan grew up dancing Tahitian in Wai‘anae, but her roots are now deep on Kaua‘i, where she wants to buy a home and raise her girls.
Julie LaPlant came from Montreal, Canada. Dad was American, so she could choose to stay here. Julie also has two beautiful girls, ages 10 and 12, and — sorry again — is not available; she has a significant other.
The rock’n roll fan is also a part-time musician, and hits the open mics every once in a while with her awesome voice.
Cook’s Landing is located at the Courtyard by Marriott, the first hotel in the Coconut Coast strip, if you’re southbound. It’s open every day from 11 a.m.to 9 p.m. The restaurant and bar is right by the pool, giving you the impression you are on vacation.
But again, aren’t we all on permanent vacation living here?
