NAWILIWILI — The Kaua‘i County Council on Wednesday approved a Public Works Department list of proposed county roads to be resurfaced in Fiscal Year 2012, starting July 1, 2011 and ending June 1, 2012.
The bulk of the work is estimated at $8.55 million, and is divided into five districts islandwide.
County Engineer Larry Dill, in a formal letter to the council, said a list of roads to be considered for resurfacing is maintained by the Roads Maintenance Division.
Roads are added after input from Roads Maintenance personnel or the public, he said. The division head inspects all the roads and prioritizes the ones for resurfacing, considering pavement condition, volume of traffic, potential liability if deferred and grouping of roads, Dill said in the letter.
